Amplifying Youth Voice & Civic Engagement Through Workforce Development Programs in Harlem
The Approach:
West Harlem Development Corporation and the Arise! Program partnered with Local Civics to launch an innovative and immersive learning experience that impacted over 150 Harlem youths. Participants explored civic and community leadership and created actionable plans for change as well.
Outcomes:
These young leaders reported feeling empowered to impact their community, enhanced community mindsets, and greater inclination toward civic leadership. 60.9% of the students also stated that they are more likely to run for public office, after their participation in the program.
